Fletcher, both of whom were well loved. Letters from Edna in response and also giving family news. Several letters from John Marland of King Harland Mines. Numerous business letters, 1908-1910, re: changes in equipment, modifications, agreements and contracts with the miners, problems with work routines and problems with the railroad. Include a number of letters from A.L. Sweet, Hays and Fletcher. Account books, time books, property rent books, freight records, prop reports, unclaimed wage reports and cashiers' instructions for the mine.

Fletcher, Ruffin Drew, 1841-1929.

Founder of Thayer, Illinois and superintendent of the Chicago, Wilmington & Vermilion Coal Mine in that town. Had worked for the company in Streator, Ill. where the main offices and president A.L. Sweet were located, until 1900 when land was bought in Sangamon County and he went there to start up the mine. Remained in Thayer until his death.
